  • How does emotion affect your movement?

Posted by Max Mover on March 31, 2023 at 7:36 pm

The connection between motion and emotion is a fascinating aspect of human psychology & its relationship with kinesthetics. As it turns out, our physical movements can profoundly impact our emotional states. If you’re feeling down or unhappy, changing how you move your body can be the fastest way to improve your mood.

Consider a simple example: if you want to feel happier, try moving your body in an energizing and invigorating way. Like, get crazy with it. One effective technique is to rapidly move your hands together, generating a burst of motion that can instantly shift your emotional state. Try this. You’re going to be like, “oh my gosh, this is so weird it’s funny.” By paying attention to how your body moves, you can gain insight into your emotions and learn how to harness the power of movement to improve your mental state.

Next time you’re feeling great, take a moment to pay attention to your body’s physical shape. Chances are, you’ll notice that you’re engaging in natural and energizing activities, such as dancing or physical exercise. By contrast, when you’re feeling down, your movements might feel slow and sluggish, further exacerbating negative emotions. When you do feel down, try this out. Stair at the ceiling & put a big stupid smile on your face, and hold it for 90 seconds. I promise you; it will make you feel better. Try standing up straight, taking deep breaths, and moving your body confidently and expansively. This can help you feel more confident and optimistic, even if you initially don’t think that way.

Improving a simple motion can generate energy and vitality, instantly transforming your emotional state. By embracing the connection between action and emotion, you can learn to take control of your emotional states and live a happier, more fulfilling life. If you take one thing away from this post, start becoming aware of your motion/movements when you’re in a good versus bad state.
